Michael: Overfunning?

The whir of a rope
And its quick rat a tat tat
Is mesmerizing.

Again yesterday I was overwhelmed with cautionary tales of over-training.

First Trail Runner Magazine online sent me a blurb about ultra-runner Timothy Olsen’s comeback from over-doing it, then that night we listened to a pod cast from Run to the Top that featured a health practitioner named Chris Kelly who also had a burn out story to tell.

The main piece of advice that these beware stories keep hammering home to me is don’t get so enthralled with all the number crunching that’s involved in training to where you forget what movement is primarily all about; and for almost all of us that’s not survival anymore. It’s about joy and health.

If you’re not getting out there and having some fun on a regular basis then your not funning it enough. And I haven’t yet received a blurb or listened to a pod cast warning me about the dire consequences of over-funning it.
