Volcan’s first flower festival seemed to go pretty well. The crowds were decent and the weather cooperated for the most part. There were two large parades; a decorated horse parade on Saturday which we didn’t see and a band and float parade on Sunday, which we did view.
The reason we missed the horse show was because it was suppose to start at 4. We waited until after 5:30 and without any indication of horses but a large gathering of dark clouds, we decided to beat the rain and head for home. Shortly after we were indoors it started pouring. We’ll have to find out how the horses held up under the deluge.
Similarly, on Sunday the parade was scheduled to start at 10 but didn’t get underway until after 12. Most of the parade got through before a light rain started to fall. The crowd that had lined the streets didn’t seem to be at all impatient or surprised that the event was running two hours behind schedule.
At least for certain activities the cliché that there is Latin time and then there’s American time seems to hold up.
