Actually paper or plastic is not a choice here. It’s plastic all the way. At least until very recently.
One of the supermarkets we go to has started to encourage using less plastic by giving customers large re-usable bags. And for the most part we really appreciate it.
I say for the most part because if we get a box boy to bag our groceries, he’s usually very zealous about using the bag to its fullest potential and will load it up with well over 30 pounds of goods. So if we’ve got any other errands to run, we’re saving on plastic by breaking my back.
