Michael: Shelter
Yesterday, today
And tomorrow are flowers
That color our lives.

Our lease expired at the beginning of this month. But this isn’t like in the states where we would’ve been given a notice the month before, usually indicating a rent increase. From what we’ve heard from other ex-pats, it’s very likely that we could live here as long as we’d like without expecting a rent increase. Actually our landlord decreased our rent by $50 after we’d been here a few months. That wasn’t done contractually, but that’s the way it is, and we’re very appreciative.
Last month, when we told our landlord, who’s also our next door neighbor, we were looking for land she did say to give her two months notice before we move. I don’t know if that’s in the lease agreement and I’m not going to bother to look to find out. She’s been a great landlord and if she wanted 6 months notice, we’d be happy to comply.
Despite a few quirks that have either been resolved or we‘ve found a way to work around, we’ve been very happy here and are mainly looking to move so we’ll have space to set up a work shop.
