Occasionally, it’s a pain in the butt not to have a car. Yesterday was one of those occasions.
We had three errands scheduled yesterday: 1. have copies of Kimme’s passport notarized, 2. Meet Pablo, our shipping agent, at the bus terminal to give him the notarized documents, 3. Go to the bank and grocery shop.
This is a timeline of how the day went. With a car, it still would’ve been a long morning, but I’m sure it would’ve taken half the time.
7:50 - Leave the house and walk to the bus stop.
8:30 - Board the bus to David.
10:00-Arrive in David. Take taxi from terminal to notary.
10:15-Arrive at notary.
12:15-Leave notary with documents. Take taxi back to terminal.
12:30-Call Pablo. Have lunch at terminal.
1:45 - Pablo calls. Says his cell phone died and that he has some business to
Attend to before he could drive to David. Can meet us in a couple of
Hours or we can make other arrangements to receive documents. We
Opt to go home.
2:05 - Board bus to Volcan.
3:45 - Arrive in Volcan. Walk to the bank and grocery store.
4:30 - Take taxi home.
4:45 - Ahhh…home at last.
Days like yesterday don’t happen often enough to justify the expense of a car, and really the bus and taxi rides are relatively expedient and enjoyable, but when you string them all together into one long day, they can wear you down and make you envious of all these little wind up toy cars they drive around here.
