Waiting your turn has always been a pet peeve of mine.
After we go grocery shopping there’s a taxi pick up point in the center of town, but the ethic of waiting your turn doesn’t seem to exist among a good many Panamanians. Often we’ll be there alone for quite some time waiting so it’s obvious to those that show up later that we were there first, but that won’t stop aggressive Panamanians from rushing ahead of us if they see a taxi coming.
Of course this whole taxi thing is new to me, so maybe this is the way it works in the states or other places as well. My only experience with taxis in the states was at LAX where I’ve waited in a cue until an attendant singled to me that a taxi was ready.
Otherwise I wouldn’t say that Panamanians are any more or less courteous than people in the states. But the taxi thing really eats at me.
